Boxing champion Canelo Alvarez sensationally threatened Argentinean football superstar Lionel Messi for what appeared to be disrespecting Mexico national jersey and flag with the video viral

Alvarez, who has won titles in four different weight divisions and is thought to be worth around $280 million, is undoubtedly the finest boxer in the world. However, Messi is largely regarded as the greatest football player ever in the world.

A controversy sparked as Messi was seen touching an Argentinian flag.

Since images of Argentina celebrating their 2-0 victory over Mexico at the FIFA World Cup on Sunday leaked, a stunning hatred between the two sporting icons has developed.

On social media, a video purportedly showing Messi cleaning the floor with the Mexican jersey was posted. Looking at the footage, it appears that the problem has, however, been exaggerated. The video was taken following Argentina’s victory over Mexico in the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. Messi’s goal gave Argentina the victory. The team’s star footballer was seen joining in the celebrations with them. Messi was either standing on the jersey or just next to it.

Messi sat down, attempted to take off his shoes, and gently kicked the jersey a few seconds into the video, seemingly oblivious to its location. Notably, according to the rumours, Messi acquired the shirt from a Mexican player following the game, which is usual.

Canelo’s take on this matter

According to Canelo, Messi is seen in the video stamping or kicking on a Mexican team jersey that was evidently given to him by an opposing player. A Mexican shirt is spotted close to Messi’s feet as he sits on a bench and takes off his boots.

Alvarez tweeted and asked if everyone saw Messi cleaning the floor with a Mexican jersey. Messi must have to respect Mexico just like he respects Argentina! He is just referring to the garbage that Messi did and he is not talking about the nation as a whole.

Alvarez, 32, has only ever lost in the ring twice and has won 58 of his 62 fights. Given that this is his final World Cup and Messi wants to lead Argentina to victory in Qatar.

Was the Mexican flag indeed stepped on by Messi?

There isn’t a single image of the Mexican flag during the entire clip, suggesting that Alvarez may have simply been informed of what Messi did before furiously tweeting. Messi clearly had no intention of kicking the Mexico jersey that was lying on the ground. Due to the joyous celebration the players were experiencing, the Mexico jersey was possibly on the ground.

Although it is unknown which Mexico player switched jerseys with Messi, it is clear that “The Magic Man” is clearly not responsible for what Canelo alleges.
