A video of CyclingMikey being hit by a car has gone viral

CyclingMikey is a well-known figure on social media and he uploads footage of road users committing traffic offences on his X account.

London-based YouTuber Michael van Erp, better known online as CyclingMikey, records cars using their phones and engaging in other traffic violations. He then reports the clip to the police and posts it to his channel.

Recently, Cycling Mikey posted a video of him being hit by a car at a roundabout on his TikTok account. While the identity of the driver isn’t known, CyclingMikey is seen getting knocked out by the red car in question with the video of the incident going viral on Twitter/X much to the delight of users who have over the years gone onto become irked with the content Mikey posts.

53-year-old CyclingMikey was raised in Zimbabwe after being born in the Netherlands in January 1972. Mikey’s father was killed by an intoxicated driver when he just 19 years old. In 1998, he relocated to the UK in order to work as an IT professional. His career is now professional. In addition, he has experience teaching roller skating. He resides in west London with has two sons.

CyclingMikey career

CyclingMikey aka Van Erp filmed Guy Ritchie using a cell phone while driving in November 2019. Ritchie was later charged with a crime and given a six-month driving ban. He recorded Chris Eubank running a red light in 2021; Eubank was later charged with this crime.

He recorded Frank Lampard drinking a hot drink and using a cell phone while driving in April 2021, but after Lampard engaged attorney Nick Freeman to handle the matter, the prosecution was eventually withdrawn for lack of evidence.

CyclingMikey was attempting to stop celebrity talent agent Paul Lyon-Maris from making an illegal right turn at “Gandalf Corner” in September 2021 when he ended up on the bonnet of his Ford. Lyon-Maris was charged with assault and risky driving in addition to the lesser penalty of violating a keep-left sign since he kept driving with Van Erp on the bonnet.

While CyclingyMikey claimed that Lyon-Maris drove into him and caused him to fall onto the bonnet, Lyon-Maris entered a guilty plea to the lesser offense and a not guilty plea to the two more serious accusations. Lyon-Maris was exonerated of the two remaining charges by a jury.

CyclingyMikey had an appearance in the “Road Rage: Cars v Bikes” edition of the BBC television show Panorama in November 2022.

CyclingyMikey published a video of himself in Belgravia, London, running a red light in April 2024. He said, “I raise my hands up, I’m at fault there, and it’s my fault. The fact that the other two traffic lights were still red escaped my notice. He then added, “If the police prosecute me, so what? I’ll pay the fine, you’re not going to see me complaining”.
