In one video taken by a Topeka University student, the doll is seen being held up by some spectators as the game was taking place on the court. Students can be heard calling one of the players a “p***y” in another clip.

Valley Center administrators are accused of being lenient on the issue.

Despite the racial insults, threats, and filthy chants, Topeka head coach Geo Lyons said in a change.org petition that Valley Center administrators did not address any of these activities while play was taking place although they were clearly aware.

Official joint statement

Officials from Valley Center claimed on Tuesday that they had not discovered any evidence of offensive language being used during the game. But they and the Topeka administrators issued a joint statement on Wednesday stating they had started an investigation and that it was still underway.

The statement continued, “We as superintendents are both dedicated to ensuring a safe and courteous climate at school events. Both districts are working cooperatively to examine problems relating to the sporting events on Saturday.

“Investigations are still ongoing, but incidents that happened when people didn’t act in ways that demonstrated our dedication to assisting students have been addressed. We’ll cooperate to make sure the right people are held accountable and to prevent similar instances in the future.”

On December 13, the boys’ basketball team from Topeka is scheduled to play. The next contest for Valley Center is set for the same day.
