The murder of Umesh Pal who was the prime witness in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh has triggered a political uproar. Umesh Pal murder
Umesh Pal, who is a 43-year-old lawyer was shot dead at his residence in Prayagraj’s Sulem Sarai area on the evening of 24th of February 2023. Police told, ‘assailants fired numerous rounds and then suddenly attacked him with crude bombs. Pal’s two bodyguards got seriously injured in the attack and one of them, identified by the name Sandeep Nishad died.’
Moreover, six heavily-armed assailants have escaped. After the CCTV footage of this incident went viral, UP has gone viral, UP police formed eight teams to investigate the murder. The autopsy reports have suggested that Umesh Pal got shot seven times and had more than 13 injuries on his body.
Raju Pal was a BSP leader who won a by-poll for the Allahabad state assembly seat in the month of November 2004 by defeating Atique Ahmed’s younger brother, Khalid Azim.
Soon when he won the seat, he got murdered in January 2005 when he was traveling to his village for the Republic Day parade.
Pal first fought against Atique Ahmed in the assembly elections which were held in 2002. Ahmed won the elections but later on, he resigned in 2004 after he was elected to the Lok Sabha.

Ahmed has been presently lodged in the Sabarmati jail in Gujarat as he has 100 criminal cases which have been pending against his name for extortion, gun running, murder, loot, abduction, and intimidation.
This 60-year-old gangster was elected to the legislative assembly from eWst Allahabad and got seats back-to-back from 1989 to 2002. Further, in 2004, Ahmed won the parliamentary of Phulpur constituency and became an MP.
