As the race unfolded at the Autódromo Ciudad de Paraná, in Argentina, Campillay’s Chevrolet Cruze TR V6 took an unexpected flight, initiating a series of tumultuous somersaults.

The vehicle, while severely battered, remarkably protected its occupant, Ulises Campillay, from the cataclysmic forces unleashed during the crash. It was a scene that sent shockwaves through the motorsports community.

The calamity commenced after the safety car had made its initial appearance. Tomás Cingolani, behind the wheel of a Lexus TR V6, inadvertently collided with “Josito” Di Palma in the Cronos TR V6, resulting in a destabilized car that careened into Campillay’s path.

The collision was the catalyst for the teenager’s car to take flight, as it made contact with a speed bump, propelling it into a terrifying airborne ballet.

Campillay’s Chevrolet Cruze TR V6 flipped and somersaulted, an unimaginable ten times, leaving a trail of debris and dust in its wake. Despite the destruction of the vehicle, the robust tubular structure and driver safety measures proved indispensable in safeguarding Campillay’s life.

With the competition immediately neutralized, medical personnel quickly attended to the young driver, Ulises. Dr. Soledad Costabel assured, “Ulises Campillay is conscious and hemodynamically stable with minor clavicle and upper limb trauma. Further tests at Paraná Model Clinic will rule out serious injuries, including a possible clavicle fracture.

The miracle of Campillay’s survival underscores the importance of vehicle safety in motorsports. While approximately 80 percent of the car was obliterated, the driver’s safety cell remained intact, a testament to the meticulous engineering and rigorous safety standards adhered to by racing teams.
