Martin Atkinson handed Thomas Tuchel a yellow card after his complaints over Timo Werner’s goal being ruled out during Chelsea vs Southampton
Taking the lead through a Trevoh Chalobah header, Chelsea soon doubled their advantage in the first half through Timo Werner. However, the goal was soon ruled out as VAR decided the hosts had committed a foul in the buildup to the goal.
Martin Atkinson Shows Yellow Card To Thomas Tuchel During Chelsea vs Southampton
It was a decision which left Chelsea head honcho Thomas Tuchel seething with him seen having a go at referee Martin Atkinson. Berating Atkinson proved to be costly for the Chelsea boss though with an irked Atkinson seen telling Tuchel to sit down as he showed the coach a yellow card for his troubles.

Tuchel’s angst increased come the second half as James Ward-Prowse ended up scoring his penalty to level things on the night. The anguish was short lived though as the James Ward-Prowse was sent off for what was deemed as a dangerous tackle on midfielder Jorginho with the man advantage working in Chelsea’s favour.
Timo Werner eventually got his goal as he scored in the 84th minute with Ben Chilwell making amends for his mistake earlier as he scored in the tailend of the encounter to seal the three points for the home side. The win brought an end to Chelsea’s two match losing spin with the club being downed 1-0 by both Juventus and Manchester City.
The club now heads into a two week break as the international break returns with the Nations League getting underway in the upcoming week. The side will be looking to get back its sidelined players during the break with Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante both out of Chelsea’s tie with Southampton.
