With 5:51 left in the first half, an altercation between the GW guard Essence Brown and the TCU forward Bella Cravens in front of the Colonials’ bench resulted in the dismissal of five players from GW and three from TCU.

It all took place at the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. After GW guard, Brown grabbed Bella Cravens’ hair while attempting to steal the ball, the TCU forward lost her cool. Although it is unclear whether Brown intentionally tugged Cravens’ hair or she was merely attempting to get the rebound, the argument looked to start when Brown did so.

Before the two got into it and started swinging their fists at one another as teammates tried to step in and separate them, Cravens reached back and appeared to try to hit Brown setting up a WWE-style brawl on the court. In the video, as the two ladies approach face to face, Cravens pushes Brown, which is when things got heated and both parties started throwing fists. The two were being separated by women from both sides when a TCU player shoved Brown in the back, causing her to appear to lose her balance.

The list of ejected players

In the end, GW’s Nya Robertson, Jayla Thornton, Caia Loving, and Nya Lok—who wasn’t playing at the time—were all dismissed, along with Brown and Cravens. TCU athletes Lucy Ibeh and Roxane Makolo were also kicked out.

When play resumed, both teams were awarded technical foul free throws; TCU ultimately prevailed, 70-58. The ejected TCU players were seen apologising to Caroline McCombs, the coach of GW, before leaving the field, as seen on the game broadcast.

TCU head coach on the matter

Raegan Pebley, the head coach of TCU, commented on the event that they would never want to participate in something like that. Never again do they wish to take part in anything similar. She could not care less who began it or who said what. It makes no difference. However, she is certain that both teams have kids with strong morals who lost sight of the moment.

It’s extremely vulnerable whenever something like that occurs directly in front of a bench as opposed to the other sideline or the centre of the floor.

Pebley added that she believed the referees did a wonderful job of controlling the mayhem at that point and during the entire game, which resulted in the ejection of eight players, including Cravens and Brown. Although Brown or Cravens have not yet received punishment, it is probably coming soon.
