Watch SL vs IND: Deepak Chahar Nails Pinch Perfect Yorker To Earn Wicket Of Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga had no reply to an unplayable delivery from Deepak Chahar who delivered a sensational yorker to take his second wicket of the day

Spearheading India’s fast bowling attack next to Bhuveshwar Kumar in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs India ODI series, Deepak Chahar fully well knew this was the opportunity of a lifetime for him. Accorded a golden opportunity as India fielded a fairly new look outfit against their neighbours, Chahar strived to showcase his mettle as India’s leading speedster.

While he’s not been massively impressive in the two ODIs he’s played in till now, Deepak Chahar showed what he’s capable of today. His delivery to send back Wanindu Hasaranga was a peach of a ball, one which Hasaranga had no answer to.

Chahar’s yorker was bowled at the perfect line and length, one which dipped at precisely the right moment to leave Wanindu flummoxed. Hasaranga was cleaned up for a measly 8 runs as Sri Lanka found themselves reduced to 194-6 inside 40 overs.

Looking set to post yet another timid target for the Indians, Sri Lanka managed to power themselves to a defendable 275-9. It was down to Chamika Karunaratne’s exquisite late hitting in the death overs as he struck a well deserved 33 ball 44 run cameo.

Chahar was one of the bowlers who had to endure his brunt with him going for 53 runs in just 8 overs to end up with India’s worst economy on the night. Buoyed by their late charge, the Sri Lankan bowlers delivered a well worked opening spell as they sent back both Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw.

Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey are currently out in the middle for the visitors with the side at 64-2 inside 11 overs. A win for India today would see them take the three match series ahead of the forthcoming series culminating tie and the T20 series.

Sri Lanka will meanwhile be looking to make a return in the series as they aspire to keep themselves alive in the showdown.
