Adams remained on the courtside bench while Shannon Sharpe, a former NFL Hall of Fame tight end turned sports pundit, argued with Tee Morant. As a result of security separating Sharpe and Morant, the altercation was prevented from getting any worse.
Considering the abundance of NFL playoff games this weekend, no one anticipated Shannon Sharpe would get worked up over a basketball game.

The Grizzlies player then yelled at Sharpe with an expletive, prompting Shannon to retaliate in kind. In an effort to deter the player from approaching him, he allegedly said, “Brooks would not want these difficulties” before Ja Morant stepped in.
Ja Morant’s father gets involved
The situation escalated to the point where Ja Morant’s father got involved on his son’s behalf, and even Steven Adams and other players were spotted getting into it. Obviously, Grizzlies players who were on the court during the incident had no way to remark. There may be more factors at play that will surface later, as the above account of the altercation just comes from Shannon Sharpe’s side.
Although the athlete may have responded too harshly to the former NFL player’s tongue-in-cheek remark, it is evident that the former NFL player was the one who started the verbal exchange.
Fortunately, whatever transpired was diffused before a physical altercation could have occurred and taken attention away from the game. It remains to be seen if this beef is a one-and-done or if it still has more time to cook, but we anticipate to hear more from this in the coming days.
