At the 1st round match at Wimbledon 2021, the former world No 1 Serena Williams was in tears as her injury made her retire from the opener

Recently Serena Williams had to make an exit from the Wimbledon Championship. Williams was forced to take retirement from the first-round match at Wimbledon because of her injury. Since 2017 Serena hasn’t won a Grand Slam title so this Wimbledon championship was quite crucial for her.

Serena was in tears while making exit from Wimbledon. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was eyeing for her 24th Grand slam this year.

Williams was playing a first-round match on Tuesday against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Serena is a 39-year-old tennis player and is regarded as the best one in the singles category. This match was an important one for Serena as she wanted to get her 24th Grand Slam title. Things didn’t turn how Williams planned and she met with an injury.

Serena sustained a leg injury after losing her footing somewhere near the baseline. This brave tennis star after getting injured took a small medical timeout and returned back to resume her game. She was playing this first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

Such exit has occurred for the first time in Serena William’s career, in the past, she has never been out of any match’s first round. Williams was quite close to matching the 24 Grand Slams won by Margaret. Since the 2017 Australian Open Championships, Serena hasn’t won any major tennis title.

Apart from this injury and exit, Williams has also confirmed that we won’t be able to see her in the coming Tokyo Olympics. She stated “I am actually not on the list of Olympics, nor I am aware of it. If it is so then I should not be there. During the 2012 Olympics, Williams clinched a gold medal.

Serena’s sister Venus Williams is also a tennis player by profession. She recently registered the 90th victory of her career at All England Club. A Venus is on Serena’s track and has been showing amazing gameplay since the initial days of her career.
