However, on the edge of halftime, an incident occurred that drove both sets of players, including Mane and Holgate, to push and shove.

Referee And VAR Both Missed the Incident
In the midst of the uproar, referee Stuart Attwell missed the Liverpool striker’s attempt to poke the Everton defender in the eye.
The incident was also missed by VAR, and the Senegalese international went unpunished as a result, yet it was not the only time Jurgen Klopp could consider himself fortunate.
When the score was 0-0, Anthony Gordon had a shout for a penalty. But, neither the officials on the field nor those at Stockley Park were interested. It comes after Naby Keita’s possible red card challenge against Manchester United earlier this week.
Lampard Hit Out At Liverpool
After the game, Lampard seemed to imply that when Liverpool plays at Anfield, they are frequently given the benefit of the doubt. He stated, “Both of them could have been penalties, but penalties are rare at Anfield. It’s insane that there’s contact and he gets booked. The second was a foul on the pitch [somewhere else]. You don’t always get them here.
“They’re in a different part of the city than we are. They’re near the top of the table, have been together for a long time, and play with a distinct flair.”
