Beckham Jr., the second-eldest child of the former Manchester United star and England captain, was representing Inter Miami II, his father’s minor league soccer team’s development squad. Beckham lined up a set piece almost 30 yards away as Orlando City was ahead by 201.
The goalkeeper was rendered useless as he rose to his feet and bent the ball over the wall and into the bottom left corner, giving Miami a 3-1 lead. After Orlando had taken an early lead thanks to Moises Tablante, Beckham previously assisted Shanyder Borgelin to put them in front. But Shaan Hundal’s free kick in the 70th minute gave Miami the advantage back.
Beckham has yet to play a senior-level game for the Florida-based team. The MLS Next Pro, which was established this year and includes the 20 MLS reserve club and the independent Rochester New York FC, is where Miami II play.
