After a slew of 30 plus starts in test cricket on foreign soil, Rohit Sharma finally managed to make his time out in the middle count. The opener ended up smashing an enthralling half-century on Thursday during day one of the second test match between India and England at the Lord’s cricket ground.

After a slow start, one where he saw out the new ball and took his time to settle into his groove, Rohit Sharma went berserk. Firing on all cylinders, he not only hit the day’s first four and six but also ended up cleaning out Sam Curran for four 4s in an over.
While he was extremely unlucky to miss out on a well deserved century, Rohit Sharma departed having done his job for India. His innings was an exceptional one, one which saw him stitch an opening partnership of over 100 runs alongside KL Rahul.

While Rohit Sharma endeared himself to the Indian supporters with his lusty knock on day one, it were his actions during the side’s press conference which really won hearts. Winning us over with his gesture, Rohit offered a salute to the reporter who asked him to opine on India winning the test match on 15th August, India’s Independence Day.

The video which has since gone viral has taken the internet by a storm with the entire country lauding the immense sense of pride Rohit held for his country. This is not the first time Rohit has shone his love for the land though with him previously asking supporters to chant India instead of his name.
India meanwhile find themselves on 296-5 on day 2 of the test match after both KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane departed early on.
