Virat Kohli needed some convincing from Rishabh Pant before he went for DRS which resulted in India snagging the wicket of Zak Crawley courtesy of Mohammed Siraj
Asked to step out and field after losing the toss, India will be extremely pleased with how the first session went for the side. With Jasprit Bumrah sending back Rory Burns for a duck inside the first over itself, the Indians laid down the marker early into the first test match of the series itself.
However, from thereon, Zak Crawley and Dominic Sibley dug in deep to guide the side past the rough waters they were in. Unfortunately for the hosts, the ominous 41 run partnership was broken by Mohammed Siraj who sent back Zak Crawley for 18.
England vs India 1st Test: Rishabh Pant Convinces Virat Kohli To Opt For DRS
Ripping into Crawley, the ominous delivery went in between his bad and pad. However, the umpire was unmoved despite the Indians vociferous appeals.
Contemplating if they needed to go for the DRS, captain Kohli at first slip didn’t look quite so concaved. However, he was persuaded by wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to opt for it, a decision which saw India head into the lunch break winning the first session.
