Maualuga pled guilty to the charges last month and was placed on a pre-trial diversion program. This means the charges will be removed provided he keeps his nose clean for the next five years. And meets numerous other requirements.
Maualuga spent 120 days in jail following his arrest. According to prosecutors, and finished an in-patient substance addiction treatment. Which they claimed played a role in their decision to grant him the pre-trial diversion program.
From 2009 through 2017, Maualuga, a former All-American at USC, was one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Accumulating 607 total tackles for the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins.
