Afro nation music event has been called off
For reasons of public health and safety, the Afro Nation music event has been called off early.ย After much deliberation, the organisers of the Afro Nation music festival in Accra decided to call it quits on the evening of December 30 out of fear for the attendees’ well-being.
Notable musicians who performed were KiDi, Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, and others. Unfortunately, the evening’s final performances by Nigerian superstars Asake and Rema and British rapper Skepta were cancelled.
Security at the gates was unable to manage the large crowd, and the event’s organisers announced that they had decided to call it a day.
Immediately after Dadju’s set, one of the officials said they would be cancelling the rest of the event due to unforeseen complications. One audience member expressed her displeasure with the event’s cancellation and her disappointment that the other musicians did not show up.
Gameli Hamelo, a journalist, said it was the right call to cancel the concert since keeping it going could have put the performers and visitors in danger.
