The much awaited 83 movie on India’s historic triumph at the 1983 ICC ODI Cricket World Cup is finally upon us. The movie which was stalled owing to a slew of reasons will finally be launched on 24th December, 2021 in theatres with a string of personalities from both the cricket and Bollywood fraternity lining up for the premiere.
The movie which is centered around Kapil Dev, the bagpiper of India’s consummate success sees actor Ranveer Singh portraying the cricketer’s role. Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie also has Deepika Padukone in it who will be playing the role of Kapil’s wife, Romi Bhatia.

Ahead of its grand release in theatres, the cast of the movie was present at a red carpet event in Mumbai where the film premiere in attendance of the legendary cricketers who were part of the team in 1983. A video of the gala has now gone viral with Ranveer Singh seen moving in to plant a kiss on Kapil’s cheeks with the cricketer seeing awkwardly trying to move away before having Ranveer’s wet lips planted on his face.
Its high time actors decide to keep their antics to themselves and accord the requisite respect to people of the sporting arena. While losing his marbles and going bonkers to ape around his Ranveer’s innate nature, he school of thought should be addressed when he’s meeting people who are legends in India.
