Authorities in Oklahoma have made public bodycam and dashcam footage that shows a restrained woman snatching a police weapon and firing it out of the back of a patrol car, hitting a deputy and a bystander.
Just before noon on August 12, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wellness check at a residence in Blanchard. A woman was taken into custody by deputies, handcuffed, and put in the back of a marked SUV.
The footage was captured
Her wriggling in the backseat, slipping one hand out of her handcuffs, and digging out the weapon are all captured on camera inside the car. She loads it, positions herself outside the window, and fires.
The shooting of the person in the chest was captured on the officers’ bodycams. According to investigators, a deputy also had a slight injury when a bullet grazed his head. As they reported the occurrence, the victims scurried to find refuge behind another law enforcement car.
While the police call for assistance and an ambulance, the injured man’s son, who was also nearby, is seen running over and helping with first aid. According to investigators, both victims were hospitalised with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
The accused has been penalised
The meeting was initially portrayed by police as a barricade scenario; however, Rachael Zion Clay later turned herself into the police. She is being held at the Grady County jail on a $1 million bond and is accused of “shooting with intent to murder,” according to jail records.
