Day 5 of the second test match between England and India saw test cricket at its best. From England being in control of the affair as they sent Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma packing early on to India controlling the play thereafter, ardent viewers of red ball cricket reveled in an enthralling brand of cricket.
As India reduced England to 67-5 as Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow were sent back to the pavilion without the scoreboard moving, the visitors found themselves on the verge of a well deserved win. However, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali had other plans as they staved off India’s threat, blocking with pluck and grit.

Virat Kohli dropping a sitter off Jasprit Bumrah didn’t do India any favours either with the hosts building a much needed partnership out in the middle. As the two batters dug deep and showed gallantry, it looked like England finally had the unison it needed to salvage the tie.
It was then that India once again lit up the embers of their win with Mohammed Siraj striking in consecutive deliveries. He sent back both Moeen Ali and Sam Curran to see back on top with the visitors need three wickets in 20 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
