In Ahmedabad, Rohit Sharma, leading the Indian team, won the toss and elected to bowl, giving India an early advantage in their 8th encounter with Pakistan in 50-over World Cup competitions.

For the home team, there was positive news as Shubman Gill returned to the lineup, taking the place of Ishan Kishan, who had recovered from dengue. The crowd in Ahmedabad erupted with joy when Rohit Sharma announced Shubman Gill’s return, as the fans showed their support for the Gujarat Titans hero, known for his remarkable performances in Ahmedabad.

The atmosphere at the Narendra Modi Stadium reached a deafening level as the two captains walked out for the toss, following a grand musical ceremony that enthralled the spectators. The stands were filled with a sea of blue as the Indian tri-color flags waved throughout the stadium.

Pakistan retained the same lineup that secured a victory against Sri Lanka, with Babar Azam’s team coming off a record World Cup run-chase in their previous match, successfully pursuing a target of 345 runs with centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan.

On the other side, India had begun their campaign with two consecutive victories, first defeating the five-time champions Australia in Chennai and then overpowering Afghanistan in New Delhi.
