When a fan went onto the field intent on violence during a Turkish football match, the situation became completely chaotic. The first half of the Turkish first-division derby between Goztepe and Altay was stopped due to injuries sustained by spectators as a result of reckless flares and potentially dangerous objects thrown into the stands.
A rogue supporter suddenly ran onto the field and struck Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc with a corner flag he had taken out of the ground while players and officials were waiting for medical personnel to usher the injured spectators out of the stadium. He approached the goalkeeper from behind and delivered a barrage of powerful blows to his back while holding a corner flag.

Ozenc was struck by the fan twice, the second blow being so powerful that it was shattered. Security seized the supporter right away and took him away. After the blows, Ozenc had a haemorrhage from the attack and was taken to the hospital, but he was still conscious. Medical personnel examined him and discovered a 4 cm wound on his head.
The incident has shaken the TFF.
After a brief retreat by each team to the restrooms, the match was abandoned some 25 minutes later. When police learned about the terrifying events taking place inside the stadium, they increased their presence in the area.
Three persons were hurt, one of them seriously, as a result of the flare that was thrown, including two youngsters. However, the mayhem continued even after the game was called off, with fights breaking out in the streets outside the stadium.
Others close fled the scene in terror as one supporter was spotted fighting with a fan from the other team while brandishing a knife. In a horrifying vision, the victim is seen being stabbed as he jumps into an ambulance that is stopped on the side of the road. After the incident, his health was discovered to be critical.

Official statements from the regulatory bodies
The TFF denounced “the despicable attack” on Ozenc in a statement. They also wish Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc, who was assaulted by the attacker who entered the pitch, a rapid recovery in addition to the injured football fans, the statement continued.
After the chaos subsided, the governor of Izmir, Yavuz Selim Kosger, made a statement. 13 people have currently been detained, he said.
