In First Class cricket, the southpaw smashed his seventh century. He hit 106 off 120 deliveries, including five sixes and 12 boundaries at Wankhade Stadium, Mumbai.

Mumbai chose to bowl first and was bowled out for 198 in the opening over. Thanks to Rana’s fantastic knock, Uttar Pradesh responded with an astounding 324 runs. Meanwhile, following his century, Rana seemed to be making a subtle jab at Yash Dhull, the captain of the Delhi Ranji squad and a former teammate.

After reaching his century with the second ball of the 69th over, Rana celebrated brilliantly. After taking off his helmet, Rana hoisted his bat to face the locker room, where his teammates cheered him on. Nitish Rana was also observed dusting down his bat with his inner gloves on.

There were some fans who surmised that Nitish Rana’s celebrations seemed to be a subtle jab at young Dhull.

Following the senior player Rana’s replacement as Delhi’s captain by the one-season-old Dhull, the two became embroiled in a number of feuds. That was the decision made by Rana to leave the Delhi team after a decade and become the captain of UP.

Over the course of his 46 first-class appearances, Rana has amassed 2587 runs at an average of 39.80. In all, he has knocked down six centuries and eleven half-centuries. The highest run total achieved by Rana was 174.

Numerous well-known players, including captain Ajinkya Rahane, were easily dispatched by the Uttar Pradesh bowlers without making much of an impression.

Currently behind Mumbai by 102 runs, Uttar Pradesh is well-positioned to win the match. Though anything might happen in the final three days of the match, UP is the most probable team to win.

Rana considered his choice to go from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh as well. He, as per the Cricbuzz outlet, stated:

It was in my mind that the dressing room atmosphere of the Delhi team was not good for my career. I felt that a change was necessary for my career. I have always looked at UP as an Elite team, and I know people here. Luckily I have got a team where I am getting respect.”
