Watch Napoli TikTok account mocks Victor Osimhen for missing penalty, video goes viral

Nigerians are taking the club’s official TikTok account seriously after Napoli posted a video mocking Victor Osimhen for missing a penalty against Bologna

The Italian champions have not had a good start to the season, and their problems were made worse with a 0-0 draw away from home, which keeps them in seventh place in the standings.

After Napoli was given a penalty for a handball in the box, Osimhen had a chance to seal the victory for his club, but the 24-year-old missed it wide to cap off a dismal day. The former Lille striker expressed his displeasure with his boss after being replaced in the 87th minute. According to reports, Osimhen apologized to his team in the locker room.

Fans, many of whom had gambled on the champs to pick maximum points, were incensed by the penalty miss because it cost the Neapolitans what could have been three points.

As seen on Napoli’s official TikTok, the team created a video depicting Osimhen pleading for the penalty only to fail in a fairly demeaning way and referred to him as “Pessi”—a name created for Messi on social media every time he misses a penalty—in a derogatory manner.

Nigerian football fans in particular have not responded well to the news on social media and have found it arrogant that an official account was behind such actions. Despite the outcry, the tweet has been online for more than a day and has been shared numerous times on X (previously Twitter).

The representative of Osimhen is considering suing Napoli

After a video insulting the player was posted on Tuesday and then removed from the Serie A team’s official TikTok account, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s agent declared that he reserves the right to take legal action against the organization.

In a statement posted on messaging service X, formerly known as Twitter, Roberto Calenda said that the video had very seriously damaged the player and that what happened on Napoli’s official TikTok profile was unacceptable.

Osimhen is the front-runner to win the best African honour

Osimhen has been predicted by The SportsGrail to win an award later this year as he now leads the field of candidates for Africa’s top individual prize. The Nigerian striker assisted Napoli in winning the Serie A championship and making it to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in the history of the Italian club.
