The incident took place after the Ind v. Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 clash on 28 August. After India’s victory over Pakistan, a group of armed Islamists attacked Hindu communities and their inhabitants in the city. The Muslim mobs desecrated Hindu temples in the area and left the community under siege.
After the incident, hundreds of Hindus marched through the streets of Leicester to protest against Muslim violence against Hindu communities in the area. The Muslim mob started attacking the Hindus indiscriminately with stones and glass bottles. The Hindu community living in the region held the protest peacefully, but was soon interrupted by armed Islamists. According to various reports, the poster of the demonstration led by the Muslims was very critical of the RSS ideology that led to the tension between the two communities in the city. They even profaned the Indian flag in front of the Leicester police.

Majid Freeman is said to be the main suspect behind the violence against the Hindus
Muslim fundamentalist Mohammed Hijab who previously had led violence against Jews in London, is now in #Leicester with a mob of masked men and planning similar assault on local Hindu community.
We demand arrest of Mohammed Hijab immediately.@leicspolice pic.twitter.com/Nl8kmupY5b— World Hindu Council (@WldHinduCouncil) September 20, 2022
According to several reports, Majid was in the vanguard of the spread of fake news, which incited violence against Hindus in Leicester. The violence started when India beat Pakistan in a T20 game. The Islamists took the Indian flag and profaned it. Later in September, violence against Hindus began with crowds chasing them through their houses and streets.
However, Majid Freeman, the local Islamist «activist», fuelled the fire against the Hindus by broadcasting fake news against the Hindus. He influenced a number of Islamic organizations and led them to believe that Hindus were deliberately targeting the Muslim community in the city.
