Mohammed Shami was in the form of his life with the bat as he record a sensational half-century for India on Monday

With Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma both being dismissed early on as play commenced on day 5 of the Lord’s test match, India found themselves staring at the barrel. With only the quicks left to bat for India and known revered for his batting expertise, the side looked to be bundled out in the first session itself.

However, both Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had different plans. Surviving an early onslaught, one which saw Bumrah being caught square on the helmet by Mark Wood as the Neligh bowlers returned the favor he had delivered to James Anderson, the duo settled into its groove.

As they found their feet in the middle, the two not only managed to get India’s house in order but added crucial runs for the side as well. What was especially pleasing to see was the manner in which those runs flowed with both Bumrah and Shami playing some exquisite cricketing shots.
