On February 16, the Oshiwara Police filed a complaint against eight individuals for allegedly attacking a friend’s car outside a five-star hotel in Mumbai after the young cricketer from India’s opener refused to take a selfie with two individuals for a second time.

Shaw’s companion Ashish Surendra Yadav reported that the suspect chased the car and then assaulted it with baseball bats while Shaw was inside, threatening to file false charges if he didn’t pay. Eight people have been named as defendants in a case, according to a statement from the Mumbai Police.

The suspects were named Sana Gill and Shobit Thakur, and the event took place on Wednesday night at the Sahara Star Hotels Mansion Club in Mumbai. The cops opened an investigation and began looking for the suspect. The hotel staff recorded the names and phone numbers of everyone who took a selfie with Shaw and gave them to the authorities. Shaw was believed to be leaving the hotel in a car, and the accused gave chase to that vehicle.

Official statement from Police.

An officer from the police department said on Thursday that the trouble began when eight suspects gathered around Shaw at a posh hotel early in the morning and demanded pictures. Prithvi Shaw granted some of their requests but shelved others when they got out of hand.

The hotel management requested them to leave, and the accused became irate. The accused quickly gave chase to a car they thought was the cricketer’s leaving the hotel. But a cricketer’s friend was travelling in it, he claimed. The accused attacked the car and damaged its windscreen close to Jogeshwari Link Road. In addition, they demanded Rs 50,000 as extortion for failing to identify the car’s occupant in a false case. The driver of the car made a complaint at the Oshiwara police station, he continued.

Tough time for Shaw

Prithvi Shaw was finally included in the Indian team for the T20I series against New Zealand last month after more than 18 months. For three games, he was not given an opportunity to be in the starting Eleven. Shaw’s next game will be for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023. (DC).
