In a horrifying collision, Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo collided during the Spanish MotoGP with both stars having to be taken by stretchers as their crash video goes viral

Two MotoGP riders were taken in stretchers.

Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo competed in a bike race at the Circuito de Jerez in Seville. They attempted to turn sharply to the right while moving quickly in the direction of the back of the field. However, as they neared the turn, Quartararo became trapped between Oliveira and Marco Bezzecchi and clipped their wheels.

In the most terrifying collision of the season, both riders ended up skidding through the gravel when their motorcycles collided with the barriers. Unsettling on-board video captured the incident’s progression and the startling moment the riders dismounted.

As the race was red-flagged, Quartararo and Oliveira underwent medical examinations in an ambulance. The Frenchman continued to finish tenth when the former managed to escape unharmed and received the all-clear. However, Portuguese Oliveira was deemed unfit to continue after suffering a dislocated left shoulder.

After Marc Marquez collided with him in Portimao, the RNF Aprilia rider was eliminated from a race for the second time this season by another rider. Oliveira, 28, has only finished one of the season’s first four races as a result of being forced to miss Argentina.

On a dramatic MotoGP day, the pre-race championship leader Bezzecchi also lost a race. And Francesco Bagnaia, a teammate from Ducatti, ultimately won the championship.

Riders and teams are back in action at Jerez for a day of official testing following Sunday’s Spanish MotoGP. A new exhaust and aero package for Yamaha, the new aero used by Honda’s wild card Stefan Bradl, and perhaps the long-rumoured Kalex frame are among the technical improvements. Riders from KTM/GASGAS are anticipated to test the experimental sections that Dani Pedrosa, a wild card, rode.
