At the Lee Valley VeloPark, English cyclist Matt Walls was engaged in a multi-cyclist collision when he was flung into the crowd and over the fences. The startling occurrence required medical assistance for three bikers as well as some spectators.

How the Commonwealth Games 2022 Cycling Crash Happened?

During the Men’s 15km Scratch Race qualifying round of cycling on Sunday, July 31, the Commonwealth Games 2022 were witness to a horrifying incident when English cyclist Matt Walls was embroiled in a multi-cyclist unfortunate incident.

During the incident happened, he was seen flying over the barriers and into the crowd at the Lee Valley VeloPark. Two other cyclists, Canadian Derek Gee and Isle of Man’s Matt Bostock, were also injured in the collision and sent to the hospital for treatment, as can be seen in the frightening viral footage.

Walls and his bike came over the top of the barriers on the high banking of the turn, and he was treated for more than 40 minutes before being transported away by ambulance. A few bystanders were also harmed.

Gee managed to avoid following Walls into the stands despite surfing the top of the barrier and crashing severely once back on the banking.

All wounded individuals, both athletes and commoners, were sent to a hospital for additional care and recuperation after the event.

Recent Update About Wounded Cyclists

Both Matt Walls and Team England provided updates on his health, claiming that he was released from the hospital after receiving a few stitches but no more serious wounds.

Olympic omnium champion, 24, was riding up the slope to avoid cyclists who had crashed in an accident further down when he clipped another wheel and flew over the top.

After being carried away on a stretcher, Matthew Bostock of the Isle of Man posted on social media that he is hoping to be back in the game from next week.
