Martin Tyler has come under fire from football fans for what appeared to be a racist remark he made on live air. The 77-year-old Sky Sports analyst made the error during Liverpool’s Premier League match against Tottenham earlier today.

Tyler was overheard comparing his defending to “martial arts” as South Korean attacker Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur tackled an opponent.

The comment was quickly criticised on social media by viewers.

One person commented: “Really hurts me to say it, but I think Sky should retire Martin Tyler.” “Martin Tyler needs to apologise for it right now following the game,” another person said.

In response to Martin Tyler’s racial remarks against Son during the Liverpool vs. Tottenham game, a third person said: “I assume Sky Sports will launch an investigation.”  A fourth said that Martin Tyler’s remark about martial arts in reference to Son’s yellow card was repugnant, xenophobic, and racist. Not pleased.

This comes after Tyler was compelled to apologise for stating that wounded Ukrainian custodian Heorhiy Bushchan would have to soldier on last year.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was jeered by away fans.

After the startling first 15, Chairman Daniel Levy watched as the away fans screamed songs once more calling for him to resign and give them their money back. At one time, some Spurs fans even left Anfield in fear of another cricket score following their terrorising of Tyneside.

“Martin Tyler has been reminded of the need for care with his wording while on the air,” a Sky Sports representative informed The Sun.

Liverpool prevailed 4-3 against Spurs.

When Richarlison headed in his first Premier League goal for Spurs in the 93rd minute to tie the score at 3-3, he believed he had completed a genuinely amazing comeback.

However, a few seconds later, another substitute, Diogo Jota, scored at the opposing end of the pitch, breaking Spurs’ hearts. Now, the Reds have passed past Tottenham into fifth place in the standings just before Manchester United.
