Over time, Menon has been hailed as some kind of hero, a player who is claimed to be one of the finest umpires the country has produced. However, away from the persistent media lobbying being carried out from him are scores of errors even an amateur umpire won’t make.
To add to the oweful bits of decisions he’s made in this season of the Indian Premier League, Menon has been adamant to not acknowledge his mistakes. His decadent personality has obilerated any chances of remorse or an inkling to overhaul his mistakes with him in the limelight once again when Delhi Capitals took on Rajasthan Royals on Friday.
The encounter saw Delhi needing 18 off the final three with Rovman Powell taking a particular liking to Obed McCoy. However, despite the third delivery of the over being well above Powell’s waist, it wasn’t adjuded as a no ball by Menon who also refused to refer it to the third umpire.
The decision left Pant seething with him storming up to Menon at the end of the encounter to confront him. And as he faced off with the umpire, a fan from the crowd was heard bellowing, “Maaro Rishabh Pant maaro,” as he itched for the wicketkeeper to settle matters with Menon through punches.
