Supporters both inside and outside Old Trafford boisterously chanted the Viva la Ronaldo song after his goal in Manchester United vs Villareal
Looking headed for a draw, Manchester United supporters slowly started departing Old Trafford as their clash against Villareal headed for the final stages. With the score at 1-1 and neither side really looking likely to score, a raft of fans decided to beat the early traffic.
However, it was a decision which they are bound to have rued. A clash is never over when Cristiano Ronaldo is on the pitch and the Portuguese showed why he’s considered such a deadly opponent with his late strike in the Champions League encounter.
Right before the final whistle sounded off, Ronaldo linked with Jesse Lingard before sending down a cracker of a shot past the La Liga goalkeeper. The strike sealed a 2-1 win for Manchester United, a goal which sent the concourses of Old Trafford into a frenzy.

Not only the fans but even Sir Alex Ferguson and Usain Bolt were seen reveling in the moment as they celebrated the goal in unison. The crowd was heard erupting into Viva La Ronaldo chants, a song which continued long after the match and outside the stadium as well as the club’s fans hailed the genius of Ronaldo.

Manchester United had previously managed to level things in the second half after Alex Telles cancelled out Villareal’s opener. The 2-1 win brought to an end a run of two consecutive defeats for the club and gave manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer much needed breathing space at a time of crisis.
