This astonishing goal, scored by Argentina goalie Leandro Requena, may possibly be the longest in football history, as it in meters as his video goes viral

Requena appeared to be attempting a typical goal-kick. But out of nowhere, it resulted in his team’s third goal of the day.

Watch the video below.

In the 77th minute, Requena, a goalie for Cobresal in Chile’s top division of football, was taking a standard goal kick with his team already up 2-0. Brayan Cortes, the Colo-Colo goalie, was well outside of his penalty area when Requena took the kick. The ball bounced over Cortes’ head, proving this to be a poor choice. Cortes’ humiliation increased as he stumbled while attempting in vain to pursue the ball as it crossed the goal line.

When the goalie questioned Juan Silva, the club’s manager if the request for the record application was actually going to be submitted, and he answered absolutely yes. However, the team is still awaiting the necessary information to confirm the actual distance. The Chilean Football Federation (ANFP) phoned [Silva] to examine the field’s dimensions, which are 150m (164 yards) and a little more.

In the fourth division of English football, the goalie scored this goal for Newport County against Cheltenham Town. Will Requena’s goal surpass the previous record?

Requena, on the other hand, believed that the elevation might have contributed to the goal he scored. Since the stadium in Cobresal is 2,400 metres above sea level it came out a little stronger than usual to attempt to catch the enemy by surprise.

The first thing he did after the ball left his foot was held his head since he knew it had gone long and there were two players in a clear position to counterattack. He thought the ball could go in when he saw the bounce made it difficult for Brayan and it went past him.

CNN reported that according to Guinness World Records, no application for this record has yet been submitted. The application is anticipated to be registered soon, though. Leandro Requena is expected to establish the record for the longest field goal.
