In a recent video that has been shared on Twitter by Ron Filipkowski on Tuesday, 21st of February, 2023, the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor Ben Stein was spotted remembering days when an African-American woman was on Aunt Jemina’s syrup bottle.

Listening to Ben Stein, Twitter users were left fuming and they promptly took to a micro-blogging site to criticize him. Many people have shared different opinions on Twitter. The packaging was changed after the Black Lives Matter movement took place.

Aunt Jemima was rebranded as the Pearl Milling Company in June of 2021. After stating that he was making the “breakfast for dinner,” Stein is seen holding an old bottle of Aunt Jemima pancake syrup. He then expressed dissatisfaction at its recent rebranding by stating, “Because of the inherent racism of America’s corporate culture, they have decided to make it a white person or maybe no person.”

Declaring preference for original logo design, Stein controversially said,”I prefer it when it was Black person showing their incredible skill and ability in making pancakes.”

In early 2020 after the murder case of George Floyd, Pepsi Co. decided to put a stop to using Aunt Jemima’s well-known image. They rebranded it as Pearl Milling Company, later named the company where the original Aunt Jemima brand was created.

Ben started his career being a speechwriter for the U.S. presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford before he entered into the entertainment field being an actor, a comedian, and game show host.

Internet users call out Ben Stein for racist remarks

Netizens are really horrified and also shocked at Ben Stein’s questionable statements. They accused him of being “wilfully ignorant.” Several pointed out that the actor prefers the early days as people could be openly be racist back then.
