Unfortunately, one of the officials took the mask away from Yamal just before the Barcelona winger’ faced the journalists. It would’ve been hilarious if the young player had actually women the mask while talking to the journalists.

Let us remind you, Kylian Mbappe is jokingly called a ninja turtle for his slight resemblance to the cartoon characters. These jokes resurfaced after the 25-year-old had to wear a nose mask at the Euros.

Mbappe has only scored one goal in the tournament, converting a penalty kick against Poland. Meanwhile, many are wondering why Mbappe wasn’t wearing a mask during the France vs. Spain match. Here’s what you need to know:

Why Mbappé Wasn’t Wearing Mask

Real Madrid forward sustained a broken nose in France’s Euro opening 1-0 win over Austria. Followed by this, he didn’t come off the bench for the 0-0 draw with the Netherlands, despite France coach Didier Deschamps sounding optimistic about his star forward playing while wearing a face mask.

Although he has been wearing a mask throughout the tournament, Mbappe was not wearing it one time against Spain because the France captain struggled with his peripheral vision in the masks designed to protect his broken nose.

“You’ve got the sweat aspect, and we know sweat can get in his eyes. He’s getting used to it, but it can affect his vision,” coach Didier Deschamps said. “Everything in front of him is fine, but there’s a delay with his peripheral vision.”

Mbappe recently changed clubs moving on a free transfer from PSG to Real Madrid. He is also leading his country into a major tournament for the first time.

The Frenchman returned to the starting lineup for France’s final group stage match against Poland. During the match, Mbappé scored a goal in the 56th minute, marking the first goal of France captain in the Euros.
