LaMelo Ball is been talked about all over the newsfeed and this time, it’s not for his performance or his teams but for some unprofessional reasons. The superstar of the Charlotte Hornets got engaged in a controversial conversation after his video went viral on social media where he was seen smoking a blunt hours before the play-in game.

Previously, the National Basketball Association (NBA) decided to not randomly test the players from the league for marijuana. It was a continuation of the policy that was put in place for the COVID-19 “restart bubble” and the rule has stayed since then.

“We have agreed with the NBPA to extend the suspension of random testing for marijuana for the 2021-22 season,” said the NBA spokesman Mike Bass. He further said that they will be focusing on the random testing program on performance-enhancing products and drugs of abuse.

What will happen next? While the Hornets star trend for the wrong reasons, the good news for Lamelo Ball is that NBA will not be looking for him to arrest for using marijuana despite it still being prohibited technically as they don’t test players anymore for marijuana.

Ball, this season has averaged 20.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 1.6 steals a shooting of 38.9% from 3-point range, a career-high.

The position of the team Charlotte Hornets went fifth in the conference with the highest and went on No. 10th in the Eastern Conference dropping nine out of ten games while Gardon Hayward underwent an unfortunate foot injury. The franchise lost to Atlanta Hawks today in the Play-In Tournament with a score of 132-103.

With this result, the last chance for the Hornets to make it to the playoffs is now gone and the season is over for the franchise for 2021-22 while the Hawks still have one more game to play to fix their spot ahead in the playoffs. The No. 9 in the East with their struggling form this season, the Hawks will be in action to face the Cavaliers next and the winner will be in the fight against No. 1 seed Maimi Heat in Game 1 of the playoffs.
