With 1:58 remaining in the fourth quarter, All-American Kinchens fell to the ground after colliding with Smith. Kinchens was immobile on the field when his teammates motioned for help and pointed to the sideline. Mario Cristobol provided an upbeat update following the game, adding that everything appeared to be “relatively normal.”
Everything seems to be relatively normal.” Says he’s going to see him after this but “everything seems fine.”

Kinchens was taken off the pitch and to the Ryder Trauma Centre in South Florida after spending some time on the pitch and being loaded onto a stretcher. As Miami’s medical staff poured onto the pitch, both teams dropped on their knees. A smaller number of players appeared to come together in a prayer circle as he was being taken away. After hours of boisterous chanting, their hordes of orange-clad followers fell ghost-quiet behind them.
The No. 23 Aggies suffered their first loss at the hands of the Hurricanes, who went on to win the game 48-33. The ‘Canes’ unexpected victory was significantly influenced by Kinchens. Conner Weigman of the Aggies was intercepted by him, and he scampered 28 yards down to give the Hurricanes good field position in the second quarter, sending the Miami supporters into raptures. Later in the contest, Kinchens also picked up a Jaden Davis turnover.
The junior is expected to have a great year in 2023 after bursting as a sophomore and winning All-American honours. In that season, Kinchens had six interceptions. He was recently chosen for the Sporting News first team of preseason All-Americans.
One of this Hurricanes team’s leaders, Kinchens, 20, is a native of South Florida. As his teammates were visibly shaken on the sidelines, his injury had a visible effect on the game’s tone for the remainder of it.
