Kalidou Koulibaly was seen facing off with the Fiorentina fans who directed racial chants his way and called him a monkey

Italy and racism, its a love story which has over the years managed to withstand the test of time. Despite a slew of worldwide campaigns striving to curb the menace of racism in sports, a section of the Italian society has refused to be daunted.

Racism has stayed strong in the country with football matches in particular seeing boisterous fans fill the arena with racist chants. The ongoing 2021/22 season of Serie A has been no different with a raft of matches being riddled with racial abuses directed at both white and black players.

Kalidou Koulibaly Takes On Fiorentina Fans Who Called Him A Monkey

The bygone contest between Napoli and Fiorentina was no different with the trivalent of Kalidou Koulibaly, Victor Osimhen and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa subjected to racist abuse during Sundayโ€™s 2-1 win in Florence.

This isn’t the first time Koulibaly has been racially abused in his time in Italy with the player having to encounter these chants every season. The defender was seen raging as what was been sung by the Fiorentina supporters became coherent with him seen pausing before heading down the tunnel as the clash ended to confront the supporters.
