After using a racist remark during a gaming live stream, Red Bull has suspended rookie driver Juri Vips.

On Tuesday, Vips, a Formula 2 driver for Hitech Grand Prix, seemed to use the n-word on the streaming service Twitch (June 21). The 21-year-old has been the subject of an inquiry.

The Formula One company announced in a statement: “Red Bull Racing has immediately suspended junior driver Juri Vips from all team activities, pending a comprehensive investigation As a company, we strongly reject any forms of abuse and have a zero-tolerance policy for any racist remarks or actions.

Vips is a test driver for the team and a participant in the Red Bull young driver programme. At the Spanish Grand Prix last month, he drove for them in FP1, making his F1 race weekend debut.

“I wish to fully apologise for the harsh language used during a live gaming stream earlier today,” the Estonian wrote in an apology post on his Instagram account.

“This language use is completely incorrect and does not align with my principles and ideologies. I sincerely regret what I did, and I don’t want to set an example by acting in this manner. I’ll cooperate fully with the probe.”

Red Bull welcomed VIPs in 2018. The following year, he finished third in the F3 championship, and he is presently competing in his third season as an F2 driver, where he is seventh in the standings with 51 points after six races.

He has also served as a test driver for Red Bull and Alpha Tauri, which has involved simulator work for both teams, in addition to those obligations.
