Wout Van Aert won Stage 4 of Your De France with a sensational sprint, there was a comedy of error that was following just behind Aert’s victory. The celebration just lasted for some time which made the Belgian a bit awkward in front of the whole crowd. However, Jasper isn’t the first one on the list to celebrate a win which was not a win in real. There had been some similar incidents that have occurred in the past on a big stage. One such was during the Tokyo Olympics when Annemiek Van Vleutten started enjoying her victory before noticing that another cyclist Anna Kiesenhofer has already won the race.

After the error, Philipsen did not hesitate to share it on Twitter with some  emojis.

After finishing the line, Philipsen said:‘‘For five seconds I thought I had won but as I saw Van Aert at the front I never knew that he was riding ahead of me even during the climb. I feel good at the moment but also disappointed at the same time’’.

So far Philipsen is having a good Tour ending with the third position in Stage 3 and now finishing at second position in Stage 4. However, it will take some time for him to digest the error of joy, it won’t make any difference in his standings. He would be hoping for the win next time.

Wout van Aert’s stage 4 win of The Tour De France helped him extend the overall lead on Tuesday. Van Aert finished second in all the first three stages in Denmark. The fourth stage win will surely fade away his diappointments .
