The Jann Mardenborough Nurburgring crash accident video has gone viral
The man whose incredible journey from gamer to racer has been made into a movie feels that leaving out his terrifying crash at the Nürburgring, which claimed the life of a spectator, would have been a betrayal of the viewers.
Jann Mardenborough said in an interview that ever since the collision happened in his life, it had to happen in the Gran Turismo movie, which was released on August 9.

The infamous Flugplatz, which translates as “airfield” or, more literally, “flying place,” is where Mardenborough, 31, lost control of his Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 during a race on the Nordschleife section of the 12.9-mile circuit in 2015. The track’s ripples caused his car to leave the asphalt, flipping in the air before crashing through the fencing and killing one of the onlookers. Apart from this major tragedy, some additional people also received minor injuries and required hospitalization.
Gran Turismo incorporated this tragedy into the story rather than ignoring it. Mardenborough stated he wanted to incorporate the accident into the movie, but only if it was handled carefully. Mardenborough was closely involved in the production, from the planning phases to post-production.
“It’s a part of my story; it’s my life,” Mardenborough stated in an interview. Therefore, he believed that leaving that out would have been a disservice to the audience. He ensured that the producers and screenwriter, Jason, followed that course of action with the production. Since someone lost their life in this accident, it had to be accurate.
The movie also depicts dark times of his life, such as the times he spent alone in the hospital. The psychological components of such an incident, as well as life in general, include what might occur, how to avoid it, and how to bounce back and do something—even greatness—after it.
Career of Mardenborough
Mardenborough burst into the scene after winning the Nissan/Piscine European GT Academy competition in 2011. Since then, he has won races in single-seaters and sports cars, including a podium finish for Nissan in the LMP2 class at the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours race. That story is explored in the Gran Turismo film.
Archie Madekwe (Midsommar) played the role of Mardenborough, who served as a co-producer, stunt driver, and adviser during the production process. The film also featured celebrities like Djimon Hounsou from Blood Diamond, Orlando Bloom from The Lord of the Rings, David Harbour from Stranger Things, and Geri Halliwell Horner, a former pop singer who is married to Christian Horner, the principal of the Red Bull F1 team. The movie Gran Turismo was released in cinemas on August 9.
