Jack Doherty was banned from Kick for using his phone during a broadcast and wrecking his car. Now, he’s facing criticism once more. The 20-year-old was seen driving on a wet road in his new McLaren while reading the chat on his phone during the live. Then, yelling, “Oh no!” as he lost control of the car and smashed into a guardrail.
Once he was out of the car, Jack shot the total wreck and showed off his cameraman, who had been lying in the passenger seat with cuts all over his face. The ambulance showed up, and nobody was gravely hurt. Nevertheless, Jack’s Kick account was promptly blocked due to endangerment after the incident. He also faced backlash for paying attention to the damage his car had gotten rather than attending to his friend who was involved in the crash.

While livestreaming on Saturday morning, Kick streamer Jack Doherty damaged his 2024 McLaren in a rainy crash. While his audience watched live, Doherty lost control of the car during a storm due to being preoccupied with his phone, hydroplaned, and crashed into a security barrier. The incident went viral very quickly, drawing approximately 185,000 watchers, but Kick wasn’t impressed.
Citing their “Lawfulness” guideline which mandates that streamers obey the law and put safety first, the site terminated his account. Distracted driving while streaming violated those regulations.
Doherty spent nearly $200k on the McLaren just a year ago, and he customized the exhaust and put on an outrageous wrap inspired by paintball.
Reactions from netizens
The streamer was criticized by many viewers for his careless driving. A user said, “I really hope his insurance gets this clip and denies any claim he tries to make saying it wasn’t his fault.”
“Idiot could have killed someone. Don’t use your phone and drive in any conditions good or bad,” another wrote.
“Speeding in the rain, and distracted by your phone, that’s a hell of a combo. Hope the passenger was ok and no one else got hurt,” someone else said.
