Ian Wright was livid as Arsenal slumped to a sordid and lackluster defeat to Brentford in their Premier League 2021/22 season opener

Devoid of the services of a string of their regular players and taking on a Brentford side well revered for their attacking strength, Arsenal knew they faced a daunting task ahead of their Premier League 2021/22 season opener. This was going to be an extremely testing affair for the club, one where they were bound to be put to the sword.

And a toothless Arsenal side were thwarted with ease by Brentford who tore them into shreds on Friday. Defeating Arsenal 2-0, the hosts ushered in a new era for them in jubilant and triumphant fashion.

The completely lack of fight and inability to punch above their weight was what left a string of Arsenal supporters in angst. The same defensive travesties were on show with the side ending up conceding from a throw-in in the second half.

Ian Wright Lashes Out At Arsenal Ensuing Defeat To Brentford

Not only Arsenal supporters but even club legend, Ian Wright was left infuriated with the manner of the defeat. He was spotted fuming as he watched the match from the concourses with his postmatch statements echoing his sentiments as he went onto claim it was an embarrassing time to be an Arsenal supporter.

However, despite his public display of ire, Ian Wright’s onw judgement is a clouded one. Not once till date has he gone onto quiz Mikel Arteta with him even claiming Manchester United would be challenging for the Premier League if they replaced Arteta with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Arsenal meanwhile look doomed to their current misery if they don’t relieve Arteta of his duties soon.
