Watch an intense fight breaks out in the tunnel following the Michigan vs Michigan State game on Sunday; the video quickly went viral on Twitter
On Sunday, Michigan defeated archrival Michigan State by a score of 29-7. However, after the game, things became violent in the tunnels when Michigan State players upset with the loss seemed to attack Michigan defensive backs Ja’Den McBurrows and Gemon Green, and it got worse.
As the teams made their way to their separate locker rooms, Michigan State players attacked Michigan defensive back Ja’Den McBurrows with punches, kicks, and body slams. McBurrows was much outnumbered, without his helmet, and it didn’t appear that any Spartans were trying to put an end to the bloodshed.

On Monday, ESPN released a video from the tunnel that appeared to show how the dispute appeared to develop and featured a Michigan State player swinging a helmet. Another player who looked to be substantially engaged in holding Green while a helmet was thrown was linebacker Jacoby Windmon (wearing No. 4), who was not among the players who had been suspended.
The fans had no explanation for why something like that would ever occur in college football when the video of the event went viral, especially when they saw Windmon’s involvement. The incident stunned the sporting world, and the Spartans entirely shattered the spirit of sportsmanship.
Here’s how fans reacted to the incident
The most sincerest of yikes at Sparty fans defending this and/or excusing this. https://t.co/9deSsyFzW4

My immediate takeaways on things we didn't see from other angles:
— If Michigan St saw this video and didn't suspend Jacoby Windmon, that's a really awful look and very indicative of their priorities.
— Props to No. 41 on Michigan St for stepping in and doing the right thing. https://t.co/w8t9MsK4bq

Following the incident, Michigan State’s head coach apologised
After the incident, Tank Brown, Khary Crump, Angelo Grose, and Zion Young were suspended indefinitely by Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker, who also apologised. Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of Michigan, predicted that the Michigan State players, some of whom were seen kicking and swinging helmets at the Michigan players as they lay on the ground, will face criminal charges. The suspended players will no longer be permitted to take part in any team activities, but they will be allowed to get any necessary academic and medical support.
