As Ole Miss head coach Matt Mout sought to separate Davis from the sidelines, the situation intensified. When Matt Mout attempted to separate Davis from the sidelines, LSU’s Rammie Noel went towards Davis, reportedly snatching her hair and dragging her to the ground to defend Gordon. A couple of LSU players nearby tried to move their colleagues away from the scene as well. Everyone’s attention was on the players who were finally departing.

The situation became out of hand, and both teams’ coaches had to intervene to end the brawl. As a result of the incident, the referee marched to the scene and issued red cards to Gordon, Davis, and Noel. Gordon was afterwards spotted being escorted off the field by a member of the LSU staff in tears and holding her hair. With two players dismissed, things only got worse for the LSU, who were defeated 3-0 by Ole Miss. For their roles in the brawl, all three players have allegedly earned one-game suspensions.
