After unexpectedly collapsing to the ground during the men’s basketball team’s game against Georgia Southern, Imo Essien for the Old Dominion University men’s basketball team caused a lot of people to become alarmed with his video viral
The event took place at the beginning of the game. Imo Essien, a sophomore guard for Old Dominion, was playing defence when the cameras caught him suddenly slumping to the ground.

This happened when he was defending the ball. He had a hard time getting back up on his feet and eventually laid down on his back, acting as though he was in a lot of agony. Essien was quickly attended to by medical staff from Old Dominion when they arrived on the scene. It appeared that he was aware of his surroundings.

Both the ODU Athletic Training team and the GA Southern medical personnel conducted an evaluation on Imo Essien before the game. He was responsive the whole time and was able to sit with the team for the entirety of the game. After it was over, he also travelled home with the team.
He is in a positive frame of mind and plans to collaborate with the ODU Sports Medicine Staff once they get back to Norfolk. This year, Essien’s playing time has increased to an average of 29.4 minutes, while his scoring average has increased from 1.2 to 5.4 points per game. In overtime, Old Dominion emerged victorious with an 81-75 score.
Who is Imo Essien
Imo Essien is a 6-0 point guard who weighs 155 pounds and hails from Wylie, Texas. His most recent team in the NCAA Division I basketball tournament was the Old Dominion Monarchs, with whom he played basketball.
His team was playing Georgia Southern on Saturday when he passed out on the court while they were playing. He is a guard for Old Dominion University and is a sophomore there. While attending Bishop Lynch High School in Wylie, Texas. He amassed more over one thousand points and was named to the All-State team on two separate occasions.
As a freshman, he participated in all 32 of Old Dominion’s games. And averaged seven minutes of playing time, 1.2 points, and 0.8 assists per game.
