While some felt the dance was flawless, others called it “weird,” “unusual,” and “slow,” and others even claimed she lacked stage presence and dancing talent.

Within minutes, her dancing move, called “the pencil sharpener,” became GIFs and memes that are still being shared on social media in 2022.
This week, a video of the pop band Haim dancing went viral in the very same manner, and it is quickly becoming the following major dance transfer meme.
Twitter Goes Gaga Over Haim’s Dance Moves
Haim, an American music trio comprised of three sisters, played at the Boston Calling music event in Massachusetts on Friday (May 27th).
Alana, Danielle, and Este entered the stage to perform their hit song I Know Alone, which included a lengthy dance sequence. The sisters danced furiously, twisting their bodies and moving in unison with each other, dressed in identical black bralettes and leather leggings.
The act was excellent and wonderfully timed, but it seemed a touch robotic and unusual for the band, who don’t generally dance at all.
Haim usually stands motionless, sings, and plays the guitar with no dancing moves in sight, so this came as a surprise and has gone viral for all the opposite reasons.

The Los Angeles-based band took the stage at the Boston Calling music festival on Friday, where they showcased their abilities during an extended dance routine amid their song “I Know Alone.”
The trio can be seen twisting, shimmying, and whipping their hair about in several fan videos, all while wearing black leather leggings and matching bra tops for what was a very intense and highly in-sync dance. While choreography is nothing unusual to Haim’s onstage routines, this particular performance sparked a flurry of memes due to how “robotic and prepared” they were, as one “mesmerised” critic put it.
Similarly, most Twitter users appeared to be torn between astonishment and hilarity, with some labelling the Haim sisters everything from “out of control” to avatars “managed by three remotes.”
Others chose to make fan edits that layered other elevated and tuned, such as the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” and BLACKPINK’s “Boombayah,” over Haim’s dance.
Nevertheless, many others decided to make jokes about their performance, trying to compare it to a “high school rally” and “I with my cousin’s choreographing a dance to show our parents,” “my last 3 brain cells,” as one commenter wrote before others joked that it was giving “House of Trader Joes” and “Aritzia employees when you feed them an almond ” vibe.
Dua Lipa Responds To The Dancing Meme Haters
Dua Lipa addressed the backlash she faced when a video of her dancing went viral earlier this year, even saying that she had to “unfollow” herself on Twitter.
She admitted that the hostility “hung her” and made her feel that she “wasn’t good enough,” “didn’t even deserve to be there,” and “was just not cut out to be musical.”
Dua went on to bash social media, claiming that she is “working with this poisonous coin that makes people laugh at the cost of others,” before claiming that not checking onto Twitter for an extended period is a “saving blessing.” In other developments, people are expressing dissatisfaction with an increase in the quantity of TikTok adverts on the platform.
