At least 12 fight spectators were injured when hometown hero Mike Malott entered the arena at UFC 289 as the video of the stand collapsing went viral

The footage showed fight spectators falling as Malott made his way towards the octagon and the barricade failed to stop them. Malott kept moving in the direction of the octagon so as not to interfere with the PPV. However, the videos spread quickly on social media after they were discovered. Although a fall is a fall, those fans may experience some minor injuries as a result.
Malott secured a win against Fugitt.
In contrast, Mike Malott squared off against Adam Fugitt in front of Canadian spectators. Malott has come out of hiding and continues to be the top Canadian prospect in the UFC. He can wrestle and grapple at a high level. He can go up the rankings of a crowded welterweight division if he works on his striking. Malott might not be able to compete with them at this point.
