The Hammers supporters had the opportunity to boo their opponents all game long after Harvey Barnes and Wout Faes gave the Foxes a 2-0 lead before Pablo Fornals cut the deficit in half. West Ham supporters used the occasion to make fun of their rivals. When word of Everton’s victory reached the King Power Stadium, they chanted repeatedly from a packed away end.

Say hello to Millwall, cheerio and ‘We’re Going to Prague, You’re Going Down’, sang West Ham supporters as Leicester supporters filed out of the stadium. The latter slogan alluded to the impending Europa Conference League Final between the Hammers and Fiorentina, which will take place in Prague next month.

Leicester’s chairman promises, “We’ll be back.”

As the previous champion came to grips with its relegation, Leicester’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha vowed to lead his club back into the Premier League. After Everton defeated Bournemouth 1-0 on Sunday, Leicester’s 2-1 victory over West Ham was rendered meaningless, and the Foxes were relegated to the second division.

After Blackburn, it is the second former Premier League champion to be dropped from the top division. As Leicester prepares for its first season in the Championship since 2014, their fairytale championship victory seven years ago feels like a distant memory.

Srivaddhanaprabha asserted that irate supporters had sent him disrespectful letters urging him to sell the club, calling for a dramatic fall from grace. However, the Thai businessman said he would keep the job and vowed to steer Leicester in the right direction come next season.
