A video of ex-basketball player Legend Stamps trying to meet a 14 year old boy has gone viral

If you’re using social media platforms like TikTok, X/Twitter, Instagram etc., chances are you must have encountered a viral video posted by a TikTok page People v. Preds, that shows Legend Stamps, a former Florida A&M Rattlers center, being arrested earlier this week.

For the unfamiliar, the video-sharing platform’s widely known channel, People v. Preds, and X/Twitter users claim that Legend Stamps was arrested as he was “trying to meet” a 14-year-old boy at a supermarket in Long Beach, California.

As of now, neither authorities nor Stamps have released any statements regarding the alleged arrest or its reason, meanwhile, social media users are making their assumptions and speculations while sharing the video.

What Did the Video Show?

In the video, released by People v. Preds, Stamps was seen confronted by the videographer on March 25, 2024. When asked, he claimed he was at the supermarket to buy drugs.

The videographer filming Stamps mentioned that he observed the former FAMU player waiting outside the market for 30 minutes. Later in the conversation, Stamps appears to admit that he was meeting a 14-year-old, whom he had started talking to on the dating site Grindr.

Later on, the authorities arrived at the scene and apprehended the basketball player. Ever since the video emerged on TikTok, it has been making rounds across all social media platforms as netizens seem angered and curious.

Social Media User’s Reaction

Social media users are angry and criticizing Legend Stamps as they are sharing their opinions on the viral video. One such person commented, “Not funny shit but with his facial expression and just his face in general I would have thought he was rushed or something.”

Another added, “Disgusting ass predator.” A third one, who seemed to be quite angry penned, “His parents had the nerve to name him Legend. Disgusting POS.”

After the video was released, Florida A&M University contacted the creators in the comments section, stating, “Please remove our university name and branding @famuathletics from this post. Our university does not tolerate harmful acts or intentions.”

About Legend Stamps

For the unfamiliar, Legend Stamps, a basketball player hailing from Rancho Cucamonga, California, stands at six foot nine (2.06 meters). As a power forward, he most recently played for the Florida A&M Rattlers in the NCAA.

Career

During his Junior Year in 2021-22, Stamps averaged 2.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a victory against LeMoyne-Owen. Apart from that, he also achieved a season-high of 2 blocks in a game against UC Santa Barbara.

In his Senior Year in 2022-23, Legend Stamps earned a spot on the SWAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
