Watch Erling Haaland caught using mobile phone while driving Rolls Royce, video goes viral

Erling Haaland, a Norwegian football player who plays for Manchester City, was caught using his cell phone while driving his £300,000 Rolls-Royce on a Manchester dual carriageway with the video viral

On March 14, Erling Haaland scored five goals in a 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The next day, something bad happened.

Photos of Erling Haaland show him looking down at the device in his lap while holding it in his left hand and driving with his right. This is against the law in the UK, and anyone caught driving while using a cell phone can get six points on their licence and a £200 fine. The driver’s licence can be taken away if they passed their test within the last two years.

Even though it is against the law in Erling Haaland’s home country of Norway to use a cell phone while driving, he made this mistake. Road safety groups have criticised the football player, who is 22 years old, for his actions.

In March 2022, the laws about using phones while driving got stricter. At the time, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said, “I will do everything in my power to keep road users safe, which is why I am taking a zero-tolerance approach to those who decide to risk lives by using their phone behind the wheel.”

Cell phone use while driving is a looming threat

In 2020, a RAC report found that one-third of drivers were worried about other drivers using their cell phones while driving. Case of Erling Haaland using phone only adds up to this issue. Last year, statistics showed that 17 people died and 499 were hurt in car accidents where the driver was using a cell phone.

People from both Erling Haaland’s agent and Manchester City were asked what they thought about the situation. It’s still not clear what, if anything, will happen to the football player. But the accident shows how dangerous it is to drive while distracted and how important it is to follow traffic rules.
